Headed by Giorgos Karnavas and Konstantinos Kontovrakis, Heretic is a creative production company focusing on developing, financing and producing original fiction and documentary films. We are passionate about nurturing talent and combining all possible tools in order to shape bespoke strategies for each project and make things happen on the level they deserve.

Taking full advantage of local and international financing sources, along with the competitive cash rebate of 35% (EKOME) on Greek production expenses, we are experienced in working in a range of languages and acting as co-producer and line producer for international projects, by accessing local financing and ensuring their seamless materialisation in Greece, while also making significant contributions on the creative side.

Fostering an extensive international network of partners and collaborators, we are always open to hearing fresh ideas and learning new ways to bring stories to the world.

Konstantinos Kontovrakis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He obtained a BA in Film Studies and English Literature, and an MA in Arts Management in London. The film was the official opening film of Rotterdam’s Tiger Award Competition, and became an international arthouse and festival hit. On this project he met with Giorgos Karnavas, who produced the film, and together they worked on various features as independent producers before launching Heretic. Konstantinos was “Producer on the Move” for Greece in 2014 and he is the national representative of EAVE in Greece.

Giorgos Karnavas was born in 1973 in Athens. He studied Political Sciences at the University of Athens and Finance at the Hellenic Management Association, while taking courses on scriptwriting. During his career as event producer, he has promoted shows by artists such as Pet Shop Boys, Antony and the Johnsons, Nine Inch Nails, Einstuerzende Neubauten and Róisin Murphy.

Giorgos entered film production in 2010 and is a member of ACE, an alumnus of Inside Pictures, and a European and Greek Film Academies member. He was a “Producer on the Move” in 2013, when he joined forces with Konstantinos Kontovrakis in order to launch Heretic.
