Heretic, the boutique film house producing and selling films on a global scale, announced today the acquisition of world sales rights for Cannes Semaine de la Critique film, FEATHERS, from Writer/Director Omar El Zohairy.
The debut feature film of Omar El Zohairy, FEATHERS, explores the transformation in the family core, when a magic trick goes awry at a birthday party and the magician turns the father into a chicken.
Ioanna Stais, Head of Sales and Acquisitions at Heretic states: “FEATHERS tells a story about a family that is topical and essential. Turning the father into a chicken and adding a great deal of humor into it, the film lets you absorb a narrative that is serious yet absurd and unconventional. This is a film that we know for a few years now, since our production team worked on it as co-producers, and we are confident that we are the right people to handle its international sales. We hope audiences around the world find it as striking as we did”.
Juliette Lepoutre, producer at Still Moving comments “It took six years to develop FEATHERS, from the initial idea to producing the film, and the Heretic production team have been real partners in this adventure. It was an obvious choice to continue working with a team with such passion and strong will to represent the film to the international markets”.
The film was produced by Juliette Lepoutre from Still Moving (France), in co-production with Mohamed Hefzy from Film Clinic (Egypt), Shahinaz Al Akkad from Lagoonie Film (Egypt), Derk-Jan Warrink & Koji Nelissen from Kepler Film (The Netherlands) and Giorgos Karnavas & Konstantinos Kontovrakis from Heretic (Greece), Verona Meier.
