BAFTA Win for Mia McKenna-Bruce
Mia McKenna-Bruce has taken home the EE Rising Star Award at the 2024 BAFTAs for her role as Tara in Molly Manning Walker’s Un Certain Regard winner, How to Have Sex. The EE Rising Star Award is the only Bafta award chosen by the public.
Nominated alongside Phoebe Dynevor, Ayo Edebiri, Jacob Elordi and Sophie Wilde, she said she hoped the win would keep “conversations going” around the film.
How to Have Sex has already won multiple awards, among which the European Discovery Prix FIPRESCI 2023 of the European Film Academy and BIFA’s for Best Lead Performance for Mia Mckenna-Bruce & Best Supporting Performance for Shaun Thomas.
At this year’s BAFTA awards, How to Have Sex secured 3 nominations, among which for “Outstanding British Film for Molly Manning Walker, Emily Leo, Ivana Mackinnon & Konstantinos Kontovrakis, Outstanding Debut for Molly Manning Walker and Casting for Isabella Odoffin.
