Double Bill at Locarno IFF | Radu Jude & Gürcan Keltek Return Afresh
Already well established at Locarno, Radu Jude and Gürcan Keltek return to familiar and novel territories in Locarno’s Official Selection:
EIGHT POSTCARDS FROM UTOPIA by Radu Jude (Romania)
Fuori Concorso
Drawing from the debris of Romania’s long transition period, Jude’s found-footage documentary speaks about love and death, the human body and its frailty, the natural and the supernatural and of course, socialism and capitalism.
Bouncing between found poetry and an outdated encyclopedia, between trash art and Summa theologiae, EIGHT POSTCARDS sees Golden Bear Winner Radu Jude teaming up with philosopher Christian Ferencz-Flatz to make another hilarious and unforgiving take down of meta capitalist mythology.

NEW DAWN FADES by Gürcan Keltek
(Turkey, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Norway, Netherlands)
Concorso Internazionale
“Those who are more in need of our compassion are the living.”
Set in a haunted Istanbul, a young man in search of answers makes a drug induced journey that balances between sanity and insanity, reality and fantasy, truth and lies, good and evil.
Developed at Cannes’ L’Atelier, Gürcan Keltek’s second feature, following his multi-award winning “Meteors” (First Feature & Boccolino d’Oro Film Critic’s Award at FF Locarno, among 20 other international awards), walks us down the industrial districts and uncanny domiciles of Istanbul where evil has become banal and mercy has perished to give home to ‘devils’ and ‘demons’ met in the never-ending search for personal and collective catharsis.
