Heretic Acquires Made in EU, the new film by Stephan Komandarev, ahead of Venice premiere

Heretic is proud to announce that it has boarded world sales for Made in EU, the latest film by acclaimed Bulgarian director Stephan Komandarev. The film will have its world premiere in the Venice International Film Festival’s Spotlight Competition, marking another milestone collaboration between Komandarev and Heretic, following our successful partnership on his previous feature Blaga’s Lessons.
A gripping social-realist drama, Made in EU follows Iva, a seamstress in rural Bulgaria who becomes the scapegoat for a COVID outbreak in her factory. Through her story, Komandarev delivers a powerful portrait of labour exploitation and the human cost of global inequalities.
The news was revealed exclusively by Screen Daily, which also launched the official trailer of the film.
We are honoured to represent Made in EU on its journey to audiences worldwide and to continue its collaboration with one of Europe’s most vital cinematic voices.
