Double Bill at Locarno FF with Radu Jude & Ena Sendijarević

Satire, style, cinema & economics meet at the 76th LocarnoFF under Heretic’s double bill heading Golden Bear winner Radu Jude’s much anticipated “Do Not Expect too Much from the End of the World” and Ena Sendijarević’s Renée Soutendijk led period satire “Sweet Dreams”, set to premiere in the festival’s Main Competition, Concorso Internazionale.

“Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World” is an absurdist comedic drama in two parts. In a dizzying landscape, cinema, capitalism and technology meet the political sociology of the post totalitarian digital world.

“Sweet Dreams” tops Ena Sendijarević’s debut “Take Me Somewhere Nice” having won both the IFFR Special Jury Award for exceptional Artistic Achievement and the Heart of Sarajevo (Sarajevo FF 2019) after her short “Import” broke into its premiere at Quinzaine des Réalizateurs.
In her second feature, Sweet Dreams, unforgiving satire meets lavish aesthetics in a game of cat and mouse that results in an audacious tale of the tragic and delicious demise of European Colonialism, lead by a solid cast that includes Paul Verhoeven’s muse Renée Soutendijk (The Fourth Man, Suspiria).
