In 2014, Ioanna Stais was brought in to the Heretic family as Head of Sales and Acquisitions, expanding the company’s activity into world sales.

We support and encourage films and filmmakers to reach broad global audiences by becoming a key creative partner with the film team in utilizing strategies for festival play, sales, and alternative distribution models.

In 2021, Heretic landed its first Golden Bear Award with Radu Jude’s political satire Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, and the Top Prize at Cannes Critics’ week with Omar El Zohairy’s Feathers. In 2019, Heretic handled world sales for Retablo, Peru’s official submission to The Academy Awards for Oscar® consideration. Retablo was also nominated for BAFTA’s Outstanding Debut Award, and Best International Film (alongside Parasite) for the Film Independent Spirit Award.

Heretic’s current slate includes TWICE OVER, a romance starring Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Heaton, Berlinale Teddy Award winner TRIAL OF HEIN, Locarno selections THE BIRTHDAY PARTY, starring Willem Dafoe, and Alexandre Koberidze’s DRY LEAF, and Berlinale FIPRESCI winner and Slovenian Oscar contender LITTLE TROUBLE GIRLS among others.
